Freudenberg strengthens its filtration solutions business

Hopkinsville (USA) / Weinheim (Germany) November 24, 2014. Freudenberg Filtration Technologies has acquired the industrial activated carbon corrosion protection business of North American company MeadWestvaco Corporation, headquartered in Richmond (Virginia/USA) with immediate effect "Air pollution is a global problem presenting considerable challenges now and in the future," explains  Dr. Mohsen Sohi, Speaker of the Board of Management of the Freudenberg Group. "With the acquisition of MeadWestvaco's corrosion protection business we now offer a broader range of advanced filtration solutions to our customers." The acquisition includes the purchase of the Honeycomb® and VersacombTM brands as well as the takeover of construction and sales specialists in North America, Brazil and China. Both companies have agreed not to divulge any financial details of the acquisition.

MeadWestvaco's new activated carbon filters clean ambient or recirculating air  by adsorbing harmful gases that lead to the corrosion of machinery and equipment. Pulp and paper producers, refinery operators and chemical and pharmaceutical industry customers will be among those to benefit from the acquisition. MeadWestvaco is a leader in these high-quality activated carbon technologies. The product portfolio acquired comprises activated carbon pellets, Honeycomb® modules, which include the innovative VersacombTM technology and Pellet/Honeycomb® system solutions.
