Shanghai, July 25, 2016. Residents will have to endure the sizzling heat for another week as the mercury soars to as high as 40 degrees Celsius, forecasters said yesterday. Extreme outdoor temperatures provide a challenge for everyday life and work. When the temperature rises, we can reach for ice cream or cool off in the pool, while industrial applications call for rather more sophisticated solutions. "As a leading international technology group, Freudenberg offers numerous innovative products and solutions which may not be visible, but are always essential to ensure people's daily lives run smoothly – even on scorching summer days in Shanghai", said Bettina Schoen-Behanzin, Regional Representative Asia of the Freudenberg Group.
Staying cool at work
So-called cooling ceilings ensure a pleasant climate in many modern office buildings during hot weather. Water passing through highly conductive materials – such as copper – supplies the room with cool air via perforated ceiling surfaces. Ensuring the smooth operation of this process places special requirements on the materials used. The acoustic nonwoven SoundTex from Freudenberg is particularly well suited for use in ceilings with built-in heating or cooling systems – because it does not insulate. The 0.27-mm thin nonwoven has another significant advantage: it absorbs distracting noise to create a good working environment, especially in open-plan offices.
Safe travelling in summer
Especially in hot summer, we want vehicles to stay cool. This takes more than an air-conditioned cabin. Engines and transmissions are to cars what the heart and blood circulation are to human beings: They continually unleash energy – and, therefore: heat. Accordingly, sealing solutions applied in these components need to be highly heat-resistant to make sure that cars can run smoothly and safely all year.
Ideal for the high-temperature requirements of automotive engines and transmissions are seals made from PTFE material, a partially crystalline polymer with an extremely high melting viscosity. PTFE rings are highly temperature resistant and non-flammable. They therefore provide optimized sealing functionality and offer excellent frictional characteristics, even under high temperatures.
NOK-FREUDENBERG (CHINA), the Freudenberg sealing expert with long-standing competence and experience, provides a broad portfolio of sealing products for both passenger and commercial vehicles to local and global customers. The company offers highly functional and durable sealing rings made from superior PTFE materials produced at its plant in Taicang, Jiangsu Province.
A treat in the hot season
To perform well at work, good relaxation is essential. For some, an iced beer makes hot summer evenings enjoyable. At the same time, industrial food production often relies on heat – even in the hot season. Freudenberg develops innovative solutions that meet the highest standards for applications in the food and beverage industry. To name an example, synthetic high-temperature oils are developed by Klüber Lubrication, a Freudenberg company, to ensure the reliable lubrication of all drive, control and conveyor chains in ovens used for industrial food processing. These lubricants can function at temperatures of up to 650 degrees Celsius and are specifically approved for sensitive applications, such as food processing.
"Technology and innovation are about making people's lives safer, easier and more comfortable. Freudenberg is committed to creating leading-edge solutions that improve people's quality of life", emphasized Bettina Schoen-Behanzin.
