Freudenberg, the global technology group, continues to expand in medical technology. The Freudenberg Medical Business Group has announced the extension of its VistaMed catheter manufacturing facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Republic of Ireland. VistaMed is a leading supplier of catheter solutions and assembly services, complex extrusion and minimally-invasive devices. In total, some € 9 million will be invested at the site.
The Freudenberg Group is investing worldwide in the development of its footprint in the medical technology industry, to strengthen its innovation power and ensure the company’s long-term success in the market. The existing facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Republic of Ireland, will be extended by 45,000 square feet. This includes four new ISO Class 7 cleanrooms for contract manufacturing of minimally-invasive devices. “This latest expansion is evidence of the strong demand for VistaMed products and services,” said Patrick Mulholland, Managing Director of VistaMed.
It was only in October 2016 that a new state-of-the-art research and development center for innovative catheter technology was constructed in Carrick-on-Shannon for € 10 million, creating 200 new jobs. The center also includes a cleanroom for prototyping and first-in-man builds.
